Goloka is the Supreme Absolute Realm of Krishna. Krishna is the Supreme Absolute Divine Being, or Bhagavan. Everything has its source in Krishna, and springs from the Absolute. In Its most basic aspect, the Absolute is both the fullness of everything possible and the unmanifest, Pure Consciousness. The fullness aspect of the Absolute is Krishna and the unmanifest Pure Consciousness is S'iva. There is actually no difference between Krishna and S'iva, just as a coin has two faces. From one perspective we enjoy the unbounded fullness of Krishna and from another perspective we experience the unbounded awareness of Pure Consciousness.
"Go" from the Sanskrit language has a number of meanings, including "cow", "star" or "rays of light", and "loka" is "world" or "realm". Some say Goloka means "the world of cows." The cow is a giver of milk and nourishment so that makes some sense in that the Absolute is the source of all that is relative. Another meaning would be "the realm of rays of light." Light in its fullness is devoid of darkness or ignorance. Rays of light indicates the light is issuing forth to illuminate or make visible. Indeed this is exactly what Goloka is. Goloka is the source of all relative universes and the Realm of Absolute Knowledge. Our universe and all universes are basically knowledge constructs or 3-D holographic projections, so as the Realm of Absolute Knowledge, Goloka is the source of all relative existence. What is Absolute? That which never changes and therefore is always constant. Relative is that which is changing, never constant.
In Goloka we find also the Gopis and Gopas, who are Krishna's Eternal Family. From the descriptions of Goloka in the Vedic Literature and from actual experiences, artists attempt to portray the beauty and ambiance of Goloka. These pictures give us a glimpse of what we can expect to see when we are able to visit Goloka.
Every Being in Goloka has an Absolute Body - that means a Body that is eternal and unchanging. The Absolute Body is the model for human life. It is a body that expresses the full potential of human existence, based on the fundamental DNA that has 12-strands instead of the 2-strands found in the Kali Yuga bodies of today. Scientists have identified the other 10 strands but, not finding them active and in use, have labeled them "junk DNA."
The human bodies of Kali Yuga are constantly changing, growing from infant to adult then deteriorating in old age until death.
the pranamaya kosha persists for some years after the physical body dies, but eventually fades away.
the manomaya kosha and vijañamaya kosha persist longer, at least until the next physical incarnation, but if the individual jiva has attained Brahman Consciousness, it will persist until the end of the lifetime of Lord Brahma
the anandamaya kosha continues until the end of the lifetime of Lord Brahma, then it fades away
If the jiva is granted residence in Goloka by the gift of Krishna, then an Absolute Body is given and the individual remains forever in the loving service to Krishna as a Gopi or Gopa, as a part of the Ideal Society and the Perfect Community, from where all relative universes with their societies and communities are projected.
Goloka is outside our universe, and outside of all relative universes. Goloka is the source of all relative universes. There are innumerable universes, all springing from the Absolute Universe or Goloka.
When the Lord Brahma, the creator of our universe, begins His life and creates His first new Day, He creates an almost perfect replica of Goloka. Goloka is the only reality - it is the Absolute, unchanging realm of Krishna. In this picture on the right, you can see the relationship of Goloka to the innumerable universes. Click on the picture to see the full-sized version with magnification window so you can read the detail and Vedic references.
Each Day of Lord Brahma is divided into Manvantaras, and these are further divided into four Yugas or ages. These yugas are very long in human years and have distinct characteristics, as illustrated here:
Satya Yuga (1,728,000 years): – Virtue reigns supreme. Average human lifespan was 100,000 years. Everyone enjoys Krishna Consciousness.
Treta Yuga (1.296,000 years): – There were 3 quarters virtue and 1 quarter sin. Average human lifespan was 10,000 years.
Dwapar Yuga (864,000 years): – There was 1 half virtue and 1 half sin. Average human lifespan was 1000 years.
Kali Yuga (432,000 years): – There is 1 quarter virtue and 3 quarters sin. Average human lifespan will be 100 years, declining to barely 20 years near the end. Almost no one experiences Krishna Consciousness.
We are now at the exact time predicted by Krishna at the end of His last incarnation, when a new Krishna Golden Age of 10,000 years will dawn. This Krishna Golden Age will be similar to the Satya Yuga that comes at the start of each Day of Brahma.
The image below shows us the location in the current Day of Brahma where we are now - preparing for the Krishna Golden Age:
The reality of our life is: all universes are 3-D holographic projections of Goloka and are ever-changing, and therefore called "maya" or "that which is not". Understanding this requires some detail from the science of Quantum Physics.
Michael Talbot writes about the holographic universe: In 1982 a remarkable event took place. At the University of Paris a research team led by physicist Alain Aspect performed what may turn out to be one of the most important experiments of the 20th century. You did not hear about it on the evening news. In fact, unless you are in the habit of reading scientific journals you probably have never even heard Aspect's name, though there are some who believe his discovery may change the face of science.
Aspect and his team discovered that under certain circumstances subatomic particles such as electrons are able to instantaneously communicate with each other regardless of the distance separating them. It doesn't matter whether they are 10 feet or 10 billion miles apart.
Somehow each particle always seems to know what the other is doing. The problem with this feat is that it violates Einstein's long-held tenet that no communication can travel faster than the speed of light. Since traveling faster than the speed of light is tantamount to breaking the time barrier, this daunting prospect has caused some physicists to try to come up with elaborate ways to explain away Aspect's findings. But it has inspired others to offer even more radical explanations.
University of London physicist David Bohm, for example, believes Aspect's findings imply that objective reality does not exist, that despite its apparent solidity the universe is at heart a phantasm, a gigantic and splendidly detailed hologram.
To understand why Bohm makes this startling assertion, one must first understand a little about holograms. A hologram is a three- dimensional photograph made with the aid of a laser.
To make a hologram, the object to be photographed is first bathed in the light of a laser beam. Then a second laser beam is bounced off the reflected light of the first and the resulting interference pattern (the area where the two laser beams commingle) is captured on film.
When the film is developed, it looks like a meaningless swirl of light and dark lines. But as soon as the developed film is illuminated by another laser beam, a three-dimensional image of the original object appears.
The three-dimensionality of such images is not the only remarkable characteristic of holograms. If a hologram of a rose is cut in half and then illuminated by a laser, each half will still be found to contain the entire image of the rose.
Indeed, even if the halves are divided again, each snippet of film will always be found to contain a smaller but intact version of the original image. Unlike normal photographs, every part of a hologram contains all the information possessed by the whole.
The "whole in every part" nature of a hologram provides us with an entirely new way of understanding organization and order. For most of its history, Western science has labored under the bias that the best way to understand a physical phenomenon, whether a frog or an atom, is to dissect it and study its respective parts.
A hologram teaches us that some things in the universe may not lend themselves to this approach. If we try to take apart something constructed holographically, we will not get the pieces of which it is made, we will only get smaller wholes.
Now we replace the components in the illustration above with our understanding that Krishna is the Consciousness of The Supreme Divine Being, and acting through various agencies, produces what we perceive as our universe. From this we see there can be nothing higher than Realizing Krishna - the experience that God is Real, not the understanding that God is Real.
If we take the position that only Krishna is real and everything else is a projection or maya, then to Realize God means to know that which is Real.
We want to align with those who have the thinking that is common in Satyug where spirituality is 100%, when God literally walks among us, i.e., everyone has Krishna Realization. Today in Kaliyug with spirituality at 0%, almost no one has the experience of Krishna Realization.
We see Satyug as the coming age and the ideal for society and individual life. We are inspired by Maharishi's poem about God - from this poem he seems to have the perspective of one who has realized God. Therefore, we insist that God is Real, and has a name - Krishna, and Krishna resides in the Absolute Realm known as Goloka.
How can one experience, and actually visit Goloka? That is a possibility for everyone now as the Krishna Golden Age is dawning. Krishna has given the world His Esoteric Maha-Mantra. Through the practice of samyama on the Esoteric Maha-Mantra, the individual experiences Goloka. But there is much more to this technique, something incredible; when you receive this initiation into the practice of samyama on the Esoteric Maha-Mantra, you also are granted an Absolute Body. Without an Absolute Body, it would be impossible for you to travel to and visit Goloka. With an Absolute Body, your entire destiny changes. Almost every individual on earth today is an incarning jiva. There are 300 Divine Beings (Gopis and Gopas) that have incarnated at this time to be with Krishna during His Golden Age. For now, let's assume you are an incarnating jiva.
The jîva is the fundamental, eternal life unit of every evolving being and hence a very important object of study for anyone who is interested in improving the quality and quantity of his or her life. If the jîva is eternal and the core of our individual life, why do we not have a much greater awareness of the jîva? Why do we only live for a few years? What happens to us after we die? Are we reborn in another body? Why is life so difficult to bear at times, even unbearable, and at other times so joyful? Knowledge of the jîva will provide the answers to these questions and many more.
Even though a jîva is made of nothing but consciousness, it has a very specific structure based on the S’rî Chakra, the universal jîva archetype. The S’rî Chakra is a geometrical knowledge construct. A geometrical knowledge construct is a precisely configured collection of fundamental geometrical patterns that completely define a specific realm of knowledge.
Most of us are not used to thinking in terms of knowledge contained in a geometric pattern. We might normally think about knowledge as a thought or collection of words. However, primordial knowledge that forms the basis of everything is in the form of precise, three-dimensional geometric patterns. These three-dimensional patterns arise in the medium of consciousness, like ripples on the surface of a still lake.
Like ripples in water, the primordial geometric knowledge constructs fade away if not refreshed. To refresh a primordial geometric knowledge construct, one must only bring it to mind and think about it. Whatever we put our attention on will be reinforced and grow stronger because attention infuses s’aktî into the object of attention. This is due to the spontaneous natural functioning of consciousness.
As a jîva, you have the opportunity to attain to Brahman Consciousness in this lifetime. Brahman Consciousness represents one of the highest ideals for a human life achievement. Brahman Consciousness is that state of consciousness which resonates in complete harmony with the vast consciousness of the Creator, Lord Brahma. One who lives in Brahman Consciousness is literally the Divine incarnate, always acting in perfect accord with all the Laws of Nature and radiating a life supporting and uplifting influence to everyone he or she contacts.
When Lord Brahma created this universe as a playground for the jîvas to experience and return to the state of Moksha, He gave us 5 bodies or koshas. One is physical and the other 4 are non-physical:
Anamaya Kosha - the physical body
Pranamaya Kosha - the energy or emotional body - the Astral Realm
Manomaya Kosha - the mental body and the Realm of the Celestials
Vijñanamaya Kosha - the causal body and the highest Celestial Realm
Anandamaya Kosha - the body of Bliss which we all share
When we attain Brahman Consciousness we develop all of our bodies and learn to operate from each one of them. When the physical body expires, the pranamaya kosha will also expire and we will continue service to the universe in our Manomaya and Vijñanamaya Koshas until the end of the lifetime of Lord Brahma. By then we could have an Absolute Body and will be able to establish permanent residence in Goloka with Krishna.
However, today there is an unprecedented opportunity because of the coming Krishna Golden Age. Krishna is inviting all of His devotees to receive an Absolute Body now. This happens through the Esoteric Maha-Mantra initiation.
In addition to experiencing Goloka in your Absolute Body, you can enjoy Goloka now, right here on earth, in your physical body. There is a Goloka community now in New Mexico, in a green mountain valley. This community will soon be fully enclosed in huge bio-domes that shield the residents from the electromagnetic radiation of Kaliyug. Inside the main dome, a number of Satyug Sanctuary Pyramid Cottages are being constructed and several Satyug Sanctuary Pyramids have been installed where the environment of Satyug can be experienced now. There is a University program here that will establish you in full Krishna Realization in about 8 years of full time study and practice, upon the confering of the Doctor of Divinity Degree. Also there is a Gurukul for the children and an Ashram for those who can only come for short periods of time to enjoy the pure sattvic Satyug environment.
This is one more option, available to everyone - the Goloka Projector. The Goloka Projector is a physical device that projects a sphere of influence into thepranafield of the immediate physical locale to replicate the first day of Satyug. Thepranafield reflects back into the physical to create a profound effect of coherence, sattvaand resonance frequency support. The sphere of physical effect is approximately 150 feet (45 meters). The benefits of a Satyug environment for the individual to enjoy a progressive, long, and happy life are manifested in the Goloka Projector sphere of influence. The opportunity that presents itself through this device is very important. Now we have a way to replicate a Satyug environment for an entire household and through the combination of several of these devices, an entire community.
The Goloka Projector functions by surrounding the home with the earth's frequency of 33 CPS duringSatyugplus all 432,000 syllables of the primordial Rik Ved into thepranafield. The result is asattvic, coherent effect that would actually be the same environment as the very first day ofSatyugof Lord Brahma's Creation. This coherent effect would create a sphere of protection from the pranafield pollution ofKaliyugand produce an environment in theprana field that is similar to Goloka. The influence of this Goloka environment in thepranafield reflects into the physical world and causes a blooming of thesattvicvalues ofSatyug. By injecting the puresattvaof the 432,000 syllables of the Rik Ved plus the SatyugResonance Frequency of the earth into thepranafield, the Goloka Projector creates a pure bubble ofSatyugin the mud ofKaliyug.
To open your awareness to your personal experience of the Absolute Realm of Goloka and to receive the gift of your Absolute Body requires an initiation, instruction, and training to learn how to perform Samyama on the Esoteric Maha-Mantra. This initiation is open to all with only one prerequisite - practice of a meditation technique such as Atmavedi Meditation or Transcendental Meditation®, that allows you to experience the aspect of your consciousness known as Turiya. Turiya is the aspect of your consciousness that underlies and transcends the three common states of consciousness of waking, dreaming and dreamless sleep. Turyia is the changless Absolute and this is where Goloka is found. Through the technique of Samyama, you can actually experience Goloka, deep in your own consciousness.
Turiya is not that which is conscious of the inner (subjective) world, nor that which is conscious of the outer (objective) world, nor that which is conscious of both, nor that which is a mass of consciousness. It is not simple consciousness nor is It unconsciousness. It is unperceived, unrelated, incomprehensible, uninferable, unthinkable and indescribable. The essence of the Consciousness manifesting as the self in the three states, It is the cessation of all phenomena; It is all peace, all bliss and non—dual. This is what is known as the Fourth (Turiya). This is Atman and this has to be realized.
GFP Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Lake Louise 1968
In this video, Maharishi explains how meditation allows the individual to experience Turiya (Maharishi uses the term "Transcendental Consciousness" for Turiya).
Turiya is the Absolute and its experience is the foundation of the experience of Samadhi, and Samadhi is the basis of Samyama. From Maharishi Patanjali and His Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, we understand that Samyama is the combined simultaneous practice of dharana, dhyana and samadhi. Dharana is simply focusing the attention on a single thought. It is actually very simple. Anytime one thinks a single thought, that is dharana. Dhyana is the knowing of a single thought, not thinking about a thought, but simply knowing a single thought. With dharana we think a thought, one time, just think a thought. Then if we continue to know or feel the reverberations in consciousness of that one thought we have moved to the dhyana stage. The now, this moment in time experienced from the perspective of Turiya is samadhi. As we practice meditation, a shift in consciousness occurs in which we begin to witness the now as our own Self and that is the experience of samadhi.
Samyama is such an important technique because it is the sole basis for the creation of our universe. Lord Braham performs Samyama on the 432,000 syllables of the Rig Ved and the result is our universe! The Esoteric Maha-Mantra are the syllables that resonate with Goloka. When one performs Samyama on the Esoteric Maha-Mantra, and has received the gift on an Absolute Body, then the consciousness of the individual is able to perceive Goloka and eventually actually travel to Goloka. Just as the great Rishi Narada, one is no longer confined to this universe, and becomes the eternal companion of Krishna.
My First Experience of Goloka
By: Lavanga Manjari
What is Goloka? Goloka is a place of unconditional love and astounding beauty. It is a place where you experience profound peace and acceptance. A place where Krishna teases you with his playfulness, where everyone is equal to everything. It is a place of enchantment. A place that has no sadness, fear, selfishness, anger, judgments or material attachments, where you and everything that is love become one.
Goloka is pure and it is real. I can say these things because I have been there. I know it is real. I have experienced it.
After several months of practicing meditation daily I was offered the opportunity to learn Samyama on the Esoteric Maha-Mantra. At first, I thought ok how much better can my life get? I was already enjoying the benefits of transcendental meditation and yoga.
I decided to accept the opportunity and went into the experience with an open heart and mind. I was not expecting anything to happen. Once we began Samyama and I heard the Maha-Mantra in my ear for the very first time, it simply sank into my very being. The words simply became part of me, a true oneness. My mind wasn’t “thinking”, there was only an empty awareness. With each repetition of the mantra I felt something changing, like I was being taken somewhere. I began to “see” some greyness before me, soon that greyness began to clear.
Once the greyness cleared out, there I was. I was standing somewhere in The Goloka. As my focus continued to clear, I started to see the intense and vivid colors of nature come thru. I could see the wonderful array of colors in the flowers, the grass and the trees. I could hear people laughing and see birds flying above me. I could hear water from a stream nearby. I looked down and saw my bare feet in the grass.
Then that’s when I saw her standing just a few feet ahead of me, Radha! As beautiful as every description you may have read or even imagined her to be yes, Radha. She was standing above some steps gazing down at me, smiling and allowing me to become fully aware of where I was. I could see she was not alone, Krishna was also there. He was seated and engaged in conversation with others.
Radha made her way down to me, still smiling the beautiful smile that comforted my heart and soul. She took me by the hand and walked me over to a fruit tree and said “feel that, can you feel the fruit on the tree?”, I could smell the fruit and fell the fuzziness of the fruit, it was a peach tree! I simply nodded yes to her question.
It was as if she was making sure I understood that what I was experiencing was real. Radha then walked with me to the stream and gave me fresh water to drink. As I drank the water I could feel the coolness and taste the freshness. Radha's gaze fixed upon me, giving me an affirmation on the realness of it all.
I was taken by Radha's beauty, rendered speechless by all that I was seeing and feeling. She then caressed my hair and said “you have beautiful hair”. She treated me like a big sister, lil sister, a mother a best friend and grandmother would with absolute love, kindness and acceptance. I felt her eyes talking to me, telling me all about love.
Radha then took a moment to adjust the beautiful gold and purple sari I was wearing, then took my hand and placed my palm over her heart and asked me “can you feel my heart?”, I nodded yes. Then she placed her hand over my heart in the same way and said to me “we beat as one”.
I don’t think there are enough words in the universe to describe how completely overwhelmed I was with the unconditional love I was feeling. I was completely aware that this was not my imagination, my mind was not playing tricks on me, I was not making this up as I went along. Radha made sure of that!
Then as Radha and I were sharing that moment, Krishna came and stood beside her. In that moment everything I am, my mind, my body, my soul completely melted into a total oneness with Goloka! I felt my knees quiver as Krishna smiled at me and greeted me. I felt a warmness take over me when he reached for my hand and gently kissed me on the hand, the way a prince would salute his princess. Then, Krishna still holding my hand guided me towards him and turned towards a gathering of people that lay about on the lush grass and said “Everyone this is Lavanga”. Everyone there turned to look at me and smiled, with their eyes they spoke to me. I could feel the unconditional love and acceptance being expressed without a word.
Goloka is a brand new experience every time! It has brought me profound peace and boundless love. I am humbled and filled with joy in being able to share this experience with all of you. It is my sincerest wish that all of you reading this and everyone you know experience the unconditional love and acceptance that awaits you in Goloka.
